WHY I BECAME A FINANCIAL ADVISOR
I have always had an interest in finance, as both of my parents worked in the industry – albeit in two completely different sectors. There are numerous different paths you can take in finance, and it was a bit overwhelming deciding which path I wanted to go down, but my passion for over the last decade has been in financial planning. My dad instilled in me the importance of living within your means. Doing so enables you to save, invest and ultimately build wealth. I was fortunate enough to have parents who educated me on the basics of personal finance, whereas many people go without. Personal finance (and financial planning more broadly) is rarely taught in grades K-12, with very little required courses in post-secondary education – unless pursuing a business, or more specifically, finance degree. Educating and empowering people to make sound financial decisions is something that gets me up each morning. I am grateful that I love what I do and get to come to work each day with the sole mission of helping our clients on a path towards financial freedom.
5 THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT ME
1. I am an alumnus of the University of Tennessee – Knoxville and an avid Vols fan.
2. I played tennis growing up - including all four years in high school.
3. I enjoy trying new restaurants and bars (somewhat of a foodie)
4. I thoroughly enjoy traveling, with the goal of going somewhere new every 1 to 2 years.
5. I became an uncle in June of 2023
PROFESSIONAL BIO
Wes McNeillie is a Financial Advisor with RSWA. He has 7 years of experience in the financial services industry in various roles including portfolio management, operations and financial planning. He obtained the CFP® designation in August of 2021 and has worked as a financial planner for the last 3 years. Before joining RSWA, Wes worked for an investment advisor outside of Knoxville, TN. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of TN, Knoxville and a Master of Business Administration from the University of TN, Chattanooga.
PERSONAL BIO
Wes is originally from Maryville, TN, 20 miles south of Knoxville. He has two brothers - one lives in Maryville- along with his parents- and the other in Alexandria, VA. He enjoys being an uncle to his baby niece Jenna and plans on making trips back every few months to visit his family down south. After living and working in middle and east TN his entire life, he is excited to see what this next chapter has in store.
